Christmas 2024 Cedar Grove Trip Report
7th December 2024
The clubs 2024 Christmas Party was held at the Cedar Grove campgrounds in Amamoor State Forest.
Friday saw most of the members arrive and set up camp in wonderful sunshine. The club tarp was erected in quick time thanks to the many eager club volunteers.
With the fire going we settled in for the night with a few drinks and laughs until late with Karen finding a little snake on the way to the toilets.
Saturday morning after breakfast we headed out for a drive to find the old Cooks Knob Fire Tower. After we crossed the creek near camp we wound our way up the mountain with some great scenery along the way looking out over the valley below and with a few guesses and fading memory, we found it.
Unfortunately, the view from ground level was gone thanks to all the trees that had grown over the years, but it was still good to admire the old fire tower and imagine the view it still has from the top.
On our way back to camp we decided to have a play in the creek, which was a lot of fun with some members finding out their cars had leaks..
Back to camp where we found that the social club had been very busy decorating the club tarp with all things Christmas and a special entrance for our St Vincents de Ball themed party.
Things kicked off at about 2pm with games for the kids and a visit from a man in a funny red suit (thanks Rod). After Santa left no doubt looking to cool down we had game for all ages, which had something to do with a block of chocolate, silly clothing and numbered cube. This crazy game was followed by a game of secret Santa with belive it or not a garbage bin the most popular present to steal(you had to be there.
After happy hour members went off to dress for dinner in their finest Vinnies inspired evening attire.
Dinner was a feast of chicken and prawns with plenty of side dishes and desserts. The evening continued with some awards for best and worst dressed, music and lucky door prizes, thanks to club sponsors Certified Energy Solutions, Ironman 4x4 and Club 4x4 Insurance.
After a great night, members woke to the smell of bacon and eggs for breakfast cooked by our master chefs, well 2 blokes in aprons.
With breakfast done and the sun shinning it was time to packed up the club gear and our camps before and everyone making their way hope after another fun Christmas weekend.
Thank you to the members of the Social Committee for all your efforts.
Merry Christmas
Jim
