What an event. 12 months of planning and dedication from club has led to this year's 4wd Qld Corroboree being described as one of the best yet...............

The Calondra City and Gold Coast 4wd Clubs Co-hosted this years event with the weekend starting early for our club members, with many heading out to the showgrounds on Monday to help set up for the event.

By Thursday lunchtime we were ready for the swam of members from the 23 clubs who would be attending this year with half arriving thursday we got off to a busy start.  A great first night around the communal fire was had by many with excitement about the coming weekends activities.

Friday saw the rest of the club arrive and set up camp, with happy hour and trip registration over, members were treated to guitar music from 'Just Jamin' on the main oval as the kids enjoyed a movie in the hall.

Saturday morning members were up early for breakfast then first of our trips headed out to the local tracks at Mt Mee, Glasshouse, Bellthorpe and Mt Kilcoy.

After lunch club members gathered in the hall for the annual Country meeting and a serving of the Corroboree Cake and sandwiches.

With the meeting over it was time for games on the oval where club members competed for points towards the Club of The Corroboree Trophy. The most popular team game was the Tug 'o' Snatch (tug of war) 6 members per team using a snatch rope.

Somehow Caloundra and Gold Coast went first and although we came together as one club to run the event, neither club wanted to loose to the other. After an epic battle Caloundra were victors ending an eight year wait for revenge and gained bragging rights haha

With the games over members went off for dinner before returning to the oval for another night around the fires and great music from The Mangroves with members dancing the night away to good old rock music.

Sunday was a big day for our trip leaders with both morning and afternoon trips available, kept everyone busy.

Sunday afternoon it was time for presentations and raffle prizes with Bayside named Club of the Corroboree. As for raffles over $15000 worth of prizes were won making many members happy including new Caloundra members Jason and Jo who grab first and 4th prizes.

After the raffles it was time for the NRL Grand final and another night around the fire with all the talk being about how much everyone enjoyed the event.

Monday it was pack up time and after the clubs left it was time for the weary members of Caloundra and Gold Coast to sit back and enjoy beer and pizza before heading home Tuesday after a classic Corroboree, with 500 members over 45 trips and great weather, it was without a doubt one of the best....
