Mt Mee & Mt Kilcoy Day Drives
10th March 2024
Great weekend at Woodford for the day drive through Mt Mee.
Our weekend started on Saturday when Karen and i did a drive up to Mt Kilcoy with a narrow winding road then bush track to the top with the views making it worthwhile.....
On the way back to woodford we found a war memorial that had been passed by so many times on the way to the old landcruiser park but never realised what it was.
On Sunday we met up at CJ's Bakery with Brad, Sam and visitors Craig & Kylie, Dave & Kelly, Shane & young Hayden.
We headed off about 8.30 up passed the Gaol and onto the forest area where we aired down our tyres to make the drive more comfortable.
Our first stop was the Rocky Swimming Hole.Great place for a swim on a hot day.
After a dip we headed towards the Gantry, on the we stopped into the Neurum Creek camp ground which had spots for tents and caper trailers and, with a bit of effort, some small caravans, might be a spot for a small club camp.
We arrived at the Gantry which where they used to load up all the timber during th logging days using a crane inside the building. Great spot for a picnic or BBQ with clean amenities.
After launch we headed off to do another part of the forestry but unfortunately the whole wester escarpment had been closed due to back burning, so we headed down the mountain via Loveday Rd and Shane and I did a little recce of a side track that had a great hill and after turning around and heading back down we rejoined the others and continued on until we got to Neurum Creek Bush Retreat where we aired up our tyres and said our goodbyes after a fun day.
