King Chuckles Birthday Weekend Trip Report
16th October 2023
October Kings b'day long weekend. Kerry & Peder, Sandra & Steve, Dan, Claudia & kids.
Arrived at Curra Friday afternoon. Myself & Brad late Saturday along with Stephen & Danielle.
Dan dinged his bumper bar on the Saturday drive after running into a wombat hole.
We all agreed on 6.30 for the Royal dinner. Everyone chipping in making their special meal. Beautiful pulled pork & irish stews with fresh bread coleslaw & coronation chicken. Yum. Claudia made her first damper in their new 100$ camp oven !!
Kerry’s pavlova & chocolates for dessert. An evening around the fire with merry banter was enjoyed.
Sunday morning & the club provided bacon, eggs & toast.
A drive through some State Forest tracks all freshly graded. Nothing hard & made our way back to camp for lunch at midday.
Prizes were awarded for best dressed & best meal. Fluffy bunny was played with jumbo marsh mellows - even the kids had a go.
Dan stuffed 7 in ! They then headed for home as well as Danielle.
The afternoon was spent at Currabah with happy hour & lots of nibblies - Deb ( owner of property) joined us for an hour & invited everyone back to her place if they so desired to watch the league grand final.
Stuart whom lives not far from Curra at Traveston turned up about 5pm for a drink & told us how he had to haul one of his dead cows out of his dam. Now he only has 3 cows left!
Peder & Steve decided to take up Deb's offer & went to her place to watch the Broncos v Penrith. The rest of us converged around the fire watching it on our phones. We were all quite hopeful at one point that the Broncos were on the verge of a win, but sadly not too be.
The boys walked home a little sadder but we all said they played great all year to participate in the GF.
A cool night at Curra.
Steven headed home quite early Monday morning.
Brad, Steve, Peder & Kerry went out on a drive. Brad ended up having to be winched out from a precarious position on his side :/.
All packed up & headed for home (Steve & Sandra went onwards to Glastonbury for the night) by midday.
What a shame only a small group but a really nice weekend.
Thanks everyone.
