Beyond The Bitumen
3rd June 2023

Gday All
With the year nearly half over(can you believe that) I thought it was time for an update.
To date we have been able to get all our planned trips in, which is a change from the last few crazy years and are now planning through to Christmas. (Did someone say Christmas)
So far this year we have had day drives camp weekends and socials including our Aussie Day BBq at Golden Beach, Imbil, Kenilworth, Teewah Beach, Blackbutt, and just recently Fraser Island for the annual clean up. We also ran a very successful training weekend in February with 9 new members involved. Thanks to our trip leaders and trainers for your efforts thus far. Check out our trip reports under Club News on the website or App.
Up Coming Events. All of our event can be found on our website under the Events Tab
At our May meeting it was decided to concentrate our trips on camp weekends instead of day drives dure to the rising costs of everything. Day drives will still happen, but they will mainly be part of a camp. This means we will mainly be only running one trip a month this year instead of 2. Hopefully things improve financially next year and we can get more day drives in.
9th to 11th June: Family Feast weekend at Cedar Grove camp ground Amamoor.
30th June to 2nd July Camp weekend with our good friends from the Gold Coast 4wd Club.
August we are looking to run a trip in the Booloumba Creek Charlie Moreland Kenilworth area. Confirmation of this trip at our June meeting.
1st to 3rd September is our Fishing weekend at Teewah Beach.
Corroboree News
Each year the 4wd Qld clubs get to gather on the October long weekend in a country town for a big social and 4wding event. Oct 2024 will see the Caloundra Club jointly host the event with the Gold Coast Club at the Woodford Show grounds.
This will be an exciting time for our club as we have a chance to showcase some of the great 4wd tracks and sites to see in our backyard. Sure this will mean some volunteering efforts needed, but im confident that members of the Caloundra City 4wd Club will all step up and make this a wonderful event.
At the July Woodford camp the two clubs will start the planning process, and we will be running a number of recces over the weekend with a meeting on Saturday night.
Training
Our next training weekend will be the first weekend in August depending on numbers for training.
Tipping Comp
Our NRL tipping comp is going great again this year with many members enjoying the weekly banter. Paul Price is the one to beat this year and has held top spot for many weeks now.
Christmas Camp
This year it has been discussed to hold our Christmas Party at Inskip Point. If you have other suggestions please let us know in the club chat room on the app.
Look forward to seeing you all beyond the Bitumen.
Cheers
Jim
