Fraser Island Trip Report

5th June 2022
21st Annual 4wd Qld Fraser Island Clean Up a fantastic weekend had by all......

Trip report Saturday 21st May  Fraser Island

Today we started our trip adventure to the eastern side of the Island. With some pretty rough and boggy tracks, our first stop was Lake Allom, which is home to fresh water turtles. After a short walk down to the Lake from the carpark, however there is a longer walk around the lake if you feel energetic. There were lots of turtles that came up to the platform to greet us.  After a short stay we then ventured to our next destination of Worllie Creek.  It was so nice to see the water so calm. Here we saw a dingo hanging around enjoying the little bit of sun that decided to grace us with its presents.  We all crossed the creek with ease. Got some group pics, by this time everyone one was starving, so we set off again for the long journey to Kingfisher bay for a late lunch and a well deserved cold beer. We then set off for camp, tracks were bumpy and sloppy. We were all hanging to get back for happy hours. The rain decided show us that our camp fire back at camp won’t last long. All in all it was a great day drive with good company really enjoyed the day.

Sunday 22nd May Clean up Morning

Everybody up early dressed in their high vis excitedly headed up to our designated clean up spot. We stopped each at every 200m to clean up that section then bunny hop until our 4km stretch was completed. We only had 5 cars but we still managed to have our area cleaned in 2.5 hours. Some of the the interesting things we found 1x needle, some crutch less underwear, bottle of oil, 1/3 of a kids plastic seesaw. Heaps of rubbish around still. We collected 224kg of rubbish which was an awesome effort. We thank everyone that participated in the clean up and thank everyone for their efforts.

Bring on next year.
