Canungra Weekend Trip Report
27th July 2021
Another fantastic weekend of 4wding and camping.
This weekend we had a Christmas in July camp with the Gold Coast 4wd Club on a private property at Canungra.for our annual get together.
Friday we headed to the Canugra Pub for dinner and on our way back to camp we were hit with a thunder storm and with the dimister playing up in Paul and Catherines car making for a interesting drive back to camp.
The rest of the night was spent avoiding the large puddles and having a relaxing night around the fire.
Saturday after breakfast we spit into 3 groups and and set of to enjoy the many tracks on the property including a great creek run that was alot of of fun with a couple of the Gold Coast boys taking on a very deep section that looked like it was going to swallow their cars.
We also found a great track called the rapids luck for us it was more of a trickle but by thr time the seventh car made the climb it become very challenging especially on all terrain tyres., but with a bit og guidencd and just enough right foot we all made it up.
A quick stop was made back at the creek for a beer before heading to camp for lunch, then a few members went out to collect fire wood for the big camp oven cook up for dinner.
And what a dinner it was, as each family cooked up all sorts of different food with everyone was spoilet for choice with dinner which was topped off by some very tasty desserts.
After dinner we cranked up the fire and had a game of Fluffy Bunny with 2 unsuspecting members from each club providing a lot of laughs while seeing who could fit the most marsmellows in their cheeks.
The rest of the night we had many laughs and a few ales while enjoying the company of our host reminding us all why we belong to a 4wd club. There was even a birthday to celebrate with 3 cheers ringing out into the cool winters evening.
Sunady morning we had breakfast packed up all the gazebos and club gear before heading off for another drive and few more challenging tracks which resulted in a few recoveries and some interesting angles.
After all the fun it was back to camp where we packed up and said our good byes.
Big thanks to all the Gold Coast Club members for an awesome weekend and we look forward to them joining us for Easter 2022 at our camp at Curra
