After getting off the barge we headed up around hook point which was still quite soft under the sand with the tide still running out, then we stopped into the 4wd Qld registration at Eurong before entering our fenced camp sit at One Tree Rocks just up the beach.

As more members arrived we set up our camp and had lunch then headed off for an afternoon run inland to visit a few lakes including Lake Mckenzie and Boomajin before heading back to camp for happy hour and a night of fun under the club gazebo.

We had just under 6klms of beach allocated to us over the next few hours we leaped frogged each our collecting the rubbish that has mainly washed up onto the Island. With just 25 bags we were able to collect 201 kilos which was a great effort.

Sunday afternoon we headed up to Cathedrals on Fraser who were the sponsoring venue for the cleanups thank you dinner, firstly stopping out on the beach to have happy hour with members of the Gold Coast Club whom we have a great relationship with.

The night was a lot of fun enjoying a band and the company of many members from different clubs which is one of the benefits of this trip and number of members collecting prizes from the raffle and luck prize draw.

Monday morning after breakfast we did the slow pack up and arrived down at the barge around 12.00 bidding fairwell to Fraser for another year, a trip that was  over all too soon.

Well done to the Fraser Island Clean Up Organising Committee.

Cannot wait until next years event.

Jim
